Eric’s graduated in Politics in 1984. Before deciding to retrain as a lawyer, Eric spend several years in publishing. Following the conversion course to Law at the College of Law, Eric was articled to a niche city practice where he remained for 15 years developing his speciality. Eric joined Cramer Pelmont in October 2009 as a Partner. Following the merger with GTC Law, Eric remained a senior member of the Cavendish Legal Group team.

Eric has earned an enviable reputation as a wise and experienced voice with over 21 years of expertise advising both individuals and corporate entities in litigious disputes. Eric’s two main areas of expertise are in commercial litigation and divorce (focusing mainly on medium to high net worth clients). Although these two areas appear diverse they have much in common due to their dynamic and ever-changing nature, Eric’s passion for this field of law  and the high degree of personal interaction required to protect all parties.

Eric has represented a wide variety of non-listed companies throughout his career on a range of contentious issues. His cases have ranged from contractual disputes to highly complex derivative actions. He has extensive experience in all divisions of the High and County Courts.

While proven as a qualified and experienced divorce mediator and ably mediating many intensely difficult and acrimonious divorces and separations, Eric can also represent clients through difficult confrontations. Although Eric’s aim is to attain the best possible outcome through pragmatic methods, and where possible secure a successful settlement through negotiation, there are often situations where divorcing couples reach an impasse. It is in those situations that clients appreciate Eric’s strong litigation presence at their side.

Eric’s tough, direct and strategic litigation practice ensures he retains a firm grip on costs at all times with a view to maintaining proportionality. In order to maximize the best results for clients, Eric recognizes the need to advocate with sensitivity and reduction of blame or guilt which can hamper the best result.

In his commercial practice Eric demonstrates his wider industry knowledge by offering commercial solutions to commercially savvy clients. Eric remains a highly valued voice on the Cavendish Legal Group management committee.
